I am happy to be able to inform you that St. Joseph Church has been placed on the National Register of Historic Sites Friday, January 15, 1982.
I am delighted that we were able to pursue this matter to its successful conclusion in time to mark the annual Santo Nino de Cebu festival.
The presence of Santo Nino de Cebu shrine, its importance to the Filipino community and the historic role of St. Joseph's Church in the history of our City have all been recognized by the placing of St. Joseph's on the National Registry.
Please convey my greetings and best wishes to all who join with you in the Santo Nino de Cebu Fiesta.

Dear Sally:
I have read, with great interest, the material which you have sent concerning the Fiesta of the Santo Nino de Cebu. I will be happy to call this special event to the attention of the White House and also, to read into the Congressional Record appropriate remarks for this very important celebration.
Citizens of Filipino descent will share with all San Franciscans, and, indeed, all Californians, this special part of their culture and heritage. The Cebu Association of California is to be commended for the work which they have undertaken to bring to our City this 10th annual Fiesta of the Santo Nino de Cebu.
Please be assured that should be schedule permit, I will make every attempt to be there.
