On behalf of the Community of St. Dominic's Parish I wish to extend a warm welcome to the members of the Santo Ni–o De Cebu Association. At the time we recall the Glorious Catholic History of Cebu and how Ferdinand Magellan Planted the Cross there in 1521. Cebu City is thus known as the "Cradle of Christianity in The Far East". A few years ago I had the privilege of visiting the Basilica of San Agustin in Cebu in order to Venerate The Sacred Image of Santo Ni–o De Cebu. Through devotion to Santo Ni–o may the members of the Santo Ni–o De Cebu Association illuminate our City of San Francisco with the Light of the Peace and Love of the Christ Child.

On his departure for his Sabbatical year in Jerusalem, Father Martin de Porres Walsh ask me if I would undertake the Spiritual needs of the Santo Nino de Cebu Association.
With a great joy and pleasure I did accept and I do feel privileged and honored as St. Parish have been with the presence of the Santo Nino Association.
As we celebrate the annual festival of Santo Nino de Cebu, let us reflect upon the words of the Se–or Santo Nino Hymn which says: "O beloved Child. Always You have been the light of our souls, the guide of our people, the flame in our hearts."
May these words truly reflect our devotion to be a light not only in our souls but for the world. And may the Infant Child guide us all into our Heavenly Home one Day.

As members of the Santo Nino de Cebu Association, you are to be praised for continuing veneration of the "Holy Child" of Cebu, here in San Francisco. For almost five hundred years, the consecrated image of Santo Nino has protected the city of Cebu from fires and earthquakes and attacts of pirates. May your devotion to Santo Nino de Cebu be a source of Divine Blessings upon our city of St. Francis.
St. Dominic's Church was the first Spiritual Home of the Filipino Community of San Francisco. With great joy and enthusiasm, we welcome to St. Dominic's the Santo Nino de Cebu Association.
